MAH JONGG AT THE KALAHARI

A DESTINATION TOURNAMENT

Join us for a new experience in tournament play, Mah Jongg at the fabulous Kalahari Resort and Waterparks. The Kalahari is a destination resort boasting Wisconsin and Ohio's largest indoor waterparks, the full service Spa Kalahari, and many restaurant choices.

mah jongThe tournament will be based on the National Mah Jongg League Official Standard Hands and Rules.
The tournament will consist of four sessions, each of which will consist of three rounds of one hour each. Each round will consist of four hands. Our welcome table will be open Friday from 3:00pm until 6:30pm for registration upon arrival.

The first session of play will be Friday night from 7:00 to10:00pm.
On Saturday we will meet for breakfast from 7:30 to 8:45 am and then begin round two from 9:00am to noon.
There will be a break from noon until 2:45pm followed by the third session from 3:00 to 6:00pm. Saturday evening is free to enjoy the hotel and all the above amenities and nearby area attractions,

Sunday morning will begin with breakfast from 7:30 to 8:45am followed by the fourth and final round of play from 9:00am to 12:00pm. The players will then enjoy a Kalahari themed luncheon at noon to be followed by a prize presentation.

The entry fee includes:

  • Entry to the Mah Jongg Tournament
  • 3 days - 2 nights lodging

Winning the first game is bad luck

Wear red for good luck-red is thought to ward off evil spirits

Little known facts:

In Hong Kong restaurants provide mah jongg tables for their patrons for use before or after dinner....even at weddings!

The game is called a "Game of a Hundred Wonders" because of the ever changing hands

The word mah jongg means "sparrow" because the clacking of the tiles resembles the sound birds make.
